care instructions
care instructions
Gyal Code’s apparel is made using direct-to-garment on-demand printing with high-quality inks that won't fade for a long time if cared for properly, so we provided these care instructions to help you keep your apparel looking new for as long as possible!
Upon receiving your product, you may notice a slight glue-like smell to it—this is completely normal & is a result of the printing process! The smell is non-toxic and the product is completely safe to wear, but if it bothers you, you can simply wash your product before your first wear
Washing Instructions: Gyal Code’s apparel can be hand washed or machine washed in cold water—do not dry clean. If using the washing machine, please be sure to use mild detergent on a gentle cycle with similar colors & wash inside out. Avoid using fabric softeners & bleach, but if bleach must be used, please be sure to use non-chlorine bleach.
Drying Instructions: Hang drying is preferred but if using a tumble dryer, make sure to use the lowest possible temperature setting.
Ironing Instructions: If your apparel ever needs to be ironed, please be sure to turn your garment inside out and use the lowest iron setting, and never iron over the print.
Please be sure to follow these care instructions to ensure the longevity of your investment & your product fading and/or shrinking or the print cracking.

about the brand
Gyal Code is an empowerment brand encouraging women to be expressive, bold and shameless!
We got tired of seeing outdated double standards when it comes to women's empowerment, so we created a lifestyle brand that encourages us to live by a new code.
Our code is we dress how we want, say what we want, live shamelessly, and make sure we feel amazing and look great while doing it!
Gyal Code is never being afraid to live your truth...
It’s always being bold with your words and actions. It's never dimming your light or compromising who you are, no matter how uncomfortable being yourself makes others feel.
It’s being true to yourself & living in that truth, and never letting anything or anyone (including yourself) change that.
Gyal Code is learning to accept vanity as strength......
It's being confident and comfortable with vanity, because looking good and feeling good go hand-in-hand.
It’s knowing there's no shame in being proud of your appearance, because you're the only person with your looks for a reason! It's outwardly being "conceited" even (and especially) when doing so intimidates others.
Gyal Code is supporting other women, even when you can’t relate to their lifestyle or personal brand of empowerment...
It has no space for judgment or discrimination, only acceptance!
Because it doesn’t matter if you beat your face daily or have never worn makeup in your life, prefer to be naked or fully covered, or even whether you curse or choose not to—as long as you feel empowered while doing it.
It’s accepting all of yourself AND others, not just the parts that are easy to accept. It’s loving yourself unapologetically when the world tells you to be ashamed of who you are, and making sure to share that love with others.
Last but not least, Gyal Code is community!
It’s providing a shoulder for other women in need & helping build each other up. Most importantly, it's motivating each other to be our boldest, baddest and best selves, because there is no Gyal Code without gyals!
So join the Gyal Squad, where we're fully committed to inspiring and encouraging each other, and making sure we look tf good while doing it!

The Gyal Behind 'Gyal Code'
Lele was born in New Jersey to a Jamaican father & African-American mother. Growing up, she was immersed in the culture of both her parents, but as she grew older, the magnetism to her father’s culture was undeniable. As if being a certified Jersey girl didn’t make her blunt enough, throughout her life her father's advice often encouraged her to amplify this energy of boldness & confidence shamelessly, so these are the morals by which she chose to live her life.
By her teenage years, Lele was well known as the “outspoken friend” to most who knew her. Throughout her life, many women gravitated towards her wanting to know how to be more bold & outspoken, and every time they did, she was happy to help.
After a while, she realized there were a lot of women out there who needed this brand of empowerment in their life, so she decided to figure out how to help on a larger scale—and from this, Gyal Code was born. The brand mission was to empower women to be shamelessly bold & outspoken, while also honoring the culture and person that pushed her to have the strength to do so herself.
Although “gyal” simply means “girl ” in patois*, building her brand grew the word into so much more for her. For her, Gyal Code is a way to honor her heritage and her father, because without either she would not be the woman she is today.
As a brand, Gyal Code is all about giving no f*cks about how the way you live your life makes others feel, as long as it's what's best for you. It's being able to provide other gyals with that same respect & supporting all women, even when their personal brand of empowerment isn't the same as yours.
It's never never dimming your light or losing sight of your dreams no matter what the world throws at you. It represents us all being one, but still so individually special at the same time. It's standing up for yourself & what you believe in shamelessly, and being yourself unapologetically, even (and especially) when doing so makes others uncomfortable.
That’s Gyal Code.
- Your Outspoken Friend Lele
(*“Patois” is an english dialect used in Jamaica...there is no language called “Jamaican”)
